Curriculum
We aim to inspire and challenge every child through providing our pupils with a rich, broad and balanced education within National Curriculum guidelines. All children will work towards the appropriate attainment targets outlined in the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and Information Technology; the foundation subjects of History, Geography, Design & Technology, Music, Art and P.E.; plus R.E., which is a statutory requirement but not part of the National Curriculum. We also aim to teach Modern Foreign Languages, such as French or Spanish, throughout the school.
The content of our curriculum aims to provide knowledge and skills which are relevant to everyday life and appropriate work and materials are provided at every level so that each individual child can progress at their own rate. This will involve different types of teaching, class teaching and group or individual work.Emphasis is also placed on the development of independent thought, the ability to tackle and solve problems and make logical, rational decisions.
English Language and literacy skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening are taught through daily
Maths is also taught on a daily basis, covering both numeracy and understanding and skills in other aspects of the subject, such as shape and space, measures and data handling. We set children for Maths according to ability.

Resourcing the school with good quality multi-media facilities is always a high priority so that we can prepare our children for life in the 21st century.
