What a year it's been!
2013 -2014 has been fantastic here at Woodhouse West. Who would believe so much could happen in just 39 weeks!
Years 2, 4 and 6 ventured out for amazing residential visits to Whirlow Hall Farm, Scarborough and Thornbridge.
When Ofsted paid us a visit in February they confirmed that we are a good school and said ‘Pupils enjoy school and are proud of their achievements. Behaviour is good and attitudes to learning are very positive’ (Click to read report).
At Christmas Year 2 took to the stage and enthralled us with their performance that wouldn’t have been out of place in London’s West End and the Year Six Leavers made sure that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house after their production of “What a Knight!”
The year has been crammed with exciting trips - Chatsworth Gardens, Skipton Castle, Bolsover Castle, the Thackray Museum to name but a few – and very interesting visitors came into school - Samba drummers, Greedy Greeks Delhi, a few Vikings and a man with his planetarium!
We’ve had some great sporting moments - athletics, gymnastics and cricket competitions, sports days both here in school and at Tannery Park (the annual battle against Brunswick Primary) and of course the first school cycle race the "Tour de Woodhouse”.
And the list goes on and on... tree planting in the village, Sharks Think Tank, Continental Market, Christmas and Easter visits to St James’ Church, Miss Kirkham’s discos…
All of this wouldn’t be possible without dedicated staff and enthusiastic parents. Together we make a brilliant team and we’re doing a great job shaping the future for our fantastic children.
Thanks to everyone for an incredible year and here’s to the next one which will be just as special.
